WENDY DARLING - THE LOST BOYS "MOTHER"

When Wendy Darling arrived Mr. Darling wasn't sure they could afford to keep her.  Mrs. Darling looked at him so imploringly that he declared  "Yes, the expense could be borne!"

Wendy is the eldest of the Darling children: Wendy, John and Michael.  She is a thoughtful young lady with a head full of fairies and adventures.

Wendy is made of the finest all-wool felt and stands approximately 15 inches tall. Her body is 5-way jointed with ball & socket joints for expressive posing. She is realistically-detailed featuring  graceful hands with separately sewn fingers. Her  molded felt face is delicately  hand painted  and is set off with a becoming wig of the finest mohair.

Vintage nightwear from the period was the inspiration for her delicate cotton batiste nightgown trimmed with Swiss lace and pin tucks. Genuine pearl buttons and tiny buttonholes allow the nightgown to be removed.  Her underclothes are also of cotton batiste. She carries a miniature hand woven reed sewing basket with an attached cotton lining. The sewing basket is filled with sewing notions. Included are tiny needles and wooden spools of thread, scissors, and a pincushion.  She will find these items very useful in reattaching Peter's shadow. The expressive shadow accompanies Wendy and can be displayed in a variety of ways.  As with all RJW accessories, the basket and notions were made in our workshop here in Vermont.

Wendy Darling is produced in a numbered limited edition of just 250 pieces worldwide. Each will come enclosed in a deluxe presentation box with the accompanying signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and forms for owner registration. Matching edition numbers to other pieces in the Peter Pan Series are offered subject to availability. The Peter Pan series is available through all RJW AUTHORIZED RETAILERS and direct from R. John Wright Dolls.

PETER PAN, or THE BOY WHO WOULDN'T GROW UP (1904) is the title of Scottish playwright and novelist James M. Barrie's most famous play, and PETER & WENDY is the title of Barrie's 1911 novelization of it. Both tell the fanciful story of Peter Pan, a mischievous little boy who refuses to grow up. Did we mention that he can also fly?! Late one evening Peter steals into the London nursery of Wendy Darling and her younger brothers, John and Michael, and spirits them away to exciting adventures on the island of Neverland!
