TASHA TUDOR, one of America's most beloved author-illustrators of children's literature, has brought abiding joy and delight to generations of readers. During her lifetime, she wrote and illustrated more than two dozen published texts while her artwork has now appeared in over one hundred different titles and on multitudinous greeting cards. She is justifiably famous and appreciated around the world for the expressive nature of her exquisite watercolors and pencil drawings (particularly those featuring children) which often convey tranquility as well as gentle humor.

Her first substantive success as an author came with the publication of "Pumpkin Moonshine" in 1938. This evolved into a series of 5 little 'Calico' books written and illustrated by Tasha Tudor. (Early editions were bound in calico cotton.) The charming character 'Sylvie Ann' was featured in all 5 books while her brother 'Tom' made his appearance in "County Fair" - the third book in the series.

Based accurately on the original Tudor illustrations, both Sylvie Ann and Tom are made of the finest all-wool felt and are fully jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips with a ball & socket system. Each has a molded felt character face, delicate hand painted features, a mohair wig, and tiny sculptural hands with separate fingers. Diminutive 'cabinet-size' dolls, Sylvie Ann measures 8.5" tall and Tom measures 9". Sylvie Ann is costumed in a blue cotton dress topped with a ruffled batiste pinafore. On her head is an authentic prairie bonnet and on her feet, striped stockings and hand cobbled leather slippers.

Tom's period clothing includes a detailed muslin shirt with a pleated front panel, cotton trousers, a detailed cloth hat, and tall hand-cobbled leather boots. He comes with a miniature old-fashioned hay rake handcrafted of wood and metal at the R. John Wright workshop. No detail has been overlooked to bring these delightful Tasha Tudor characters vividly to life.

Sylvie Ann and Tom were produced in a limited editions of 130 and 100 pieces respectively. Each doll comes inside a deluxe R. John Wright presentation box with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and the forms for owner registration.
