THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
"DOROTHY-GOING HOME" ARTIST PROOFS & SAMPLES
R. John Wright was featured as one of the meal events at the UFDC 75th Annual Convention. The theme was "There's No Place Like Home" to commemorate 75 years of doll clubs being hosted in Kansas City, UFDC headquarters. In keeping with the theme we created a special portrait Dorothy-"Going Home".
Everyone will remember the scene at the end of "The Wizard of OZ" where Dorothy is to be taken home by the Wizard in his Omaha State Fair hot air balloon. The souvenir doll that R. John Wright created is a 11" cabinet size Dorothy as she appears at the end of the film, with alternate hairstyle worn down, softly framing her face with hair bow. She is dressed in her traditional cotton gingham frock with organdy blouse. She carries a hand woven basket. Of course she is wearing the authentic ruby slippers that, with a click of her heels, will take her home!
A hot air balloon, 25" tall, was created for the "Going Home" event and was available for order. A miniature 2"Toto was also offered for order as the companion. In addition to the Artist Proof/Sample Dorothys, a very limited number of Hot Air Balloons and Totos are now available. Stay tuned for prices and ordering information.
