THE 2011 CHRISTMAS MOUSE "SUGAR" - Preliminary Prototype
One of the most popular additions to the charming series of Christmas mice holding sweets, "Sugar" was released during the 2011 holiday season and sold out quickly. However, in designing the mouse, an alternate variation was made before selecting the final model for production. This is the "Sugar Preliminary Prototype" shown in the photo above.
Like the regular mice in the series, she measures a diminutive 3" tall and is made of the finest mohair plush and jointed at the neck and shoulders. Sugar features realistic coloring, hand embroidered features, black glass eyes, inset whiskers, resin hands and feet, and a leather tail.
Designed as a companion piece to the previously-released "Spice", the Sugar Preliminary Prototype was outfitted in a detailed felt hat in the same colors as the final production pieces but in a different design which would allow her ears to show. In this version, white felt rosettes are anchored with genuine tiny Swarovski crystals and braided felt tassles hang down on either side. The Sugar Preliminary Prototype comes complete with her Christmas treat - an all-felt gumdrop covered with faux sugar crystals. A built-in metal stand provides effortless display.
