SANTA POOH

Santa Pooh

Inspired by reading A. A. Milne's Winnie-the Pooh books to their four children, John and Susan began to envision the characters brought to life in their studio. After obtaining a contract with the Walt Disney Company, the Wrights began to design their first character bear: Winnie-the-Pooh.

In 1993, the employees of R. John Wright Dolls gathered at the company's annual Christmas dinner party. At the conclusion of the meal, each RJW associate was presented with a special gift: a custom pocket-sized Winnie-the-Pooh made exclusively for them!

"Santa Pooh" measures just 5 inches tall and is fully jointed and made of custom-made plush coating with glass eyes and hand-embroidered features. Santa Pooh wears his trademark shirt vest made of custom-dyed felt lined with cotton and fastened with a mother-of-pearl button. Atop his head is a Santa Claus hat made of the same exact felt as his shirt. The hat is trimmed in white wool plush coating fabric including the stuffed ball. As a lasting identification, each hat included the brass RJW button.

Santa Pooh was an extremely limited edition of only 25 pieces making this the smallest RJW Winnie-the-Pooh edition ever made. This delightful rendition of Pooh came inside his dark green presentation box. The box end label has the number hand written on it with the initials "SP" for Santa Pooh. Inside was a certificate of authenticity stamped with the date: December 25, 1993. The title "Santa Pooh" as well as the number in the edition was hand written by R. John Wright on the certificate.
