In addition to regularly scheduled convention activities, the following special ticketed events and workshops are also offered for your consideration. Please understand that these extra meal events and workshops are limited and will be assigned on a date-received basis.

TRIP TO BENNINGTON: BEAR COUNTRY
This separately ticketed full-day excursion will include luxury coach transportation from the Desmond Hotel to Bennington, Vermont - approximately one hour away. You will be given a tour of the R. John Wright Dolls workshop, design studio, and showroom where rare items may be purchased. A catered luncheon with views of Vermont's Green Mountains, and an exclusive R. John Wright souvenir bear are also included. The RJW facility is not handicap-equipped. BREAKFAST EVENT: TULIPS & WINDMILLS
This ticketed breakfast event will feature special favors, decorations, and centerpieces to evoke the charm of Old Holland. As with all our previous breakout breakfast events, Tulips & Windmills will feature a fun and entertaining game with prizes! Your souvenir will be a delightful cabinet-sized R. DINNER EVENT: THE CANALS OF VENICE
Collectors of RJW animal characters will not want to miss this breakout dinner event in the Desmond's newly-created fountain area. With the surrounding building facades, you will swear that you are dining alfresco in Venice! Neapolitan melodies will add to the atmosphere as you feast on a meal of tasty Italian cuisine. Your whimsical souvenir will be "Italy" the first in a series of costumed mice from around the world. This handsome character will wind his way into your heart dressed as a classic Gondolier! This exciting ticketed dinner event with exclusive themed decorations and favors, will capture the exotic wonder of the Orient. Colorful Japanese lanterns will illuminate the courtyard setting as you are entertained by a team of authentic "teppanyaki" chefs as they prepare your meal with theatrical flair! WORKSHOP: ETHNIC FELT PINCUSHIONS
Younger daughter Emily Wright will conduct this workshop with an R. John Wright asssociate taking you through the processs to create your own decorative ethnic-style pincushion. Constructed of the finest all-wool felt with an abundance of trims and die-cut shapes, these delightful pincushions can be designed for use during sewing projects or as a colorful and decorative display item. WORKSHOP: AFRICAN NDEBELE DOLLS
One of the smallest tribes in Southern Africa, the Ndebele (pronounced: und-duh-bee-lee) are noted for their charming and distinctive dolls which are as colorful and detailed as the clothing of the women themselves. Emily Wright and a trained R. John Wright associate will take you through the steps to create your very own one-of-a-kind Ndebele doll! All materials and tools will be provided. Fee: $65

WORKSHOP: PEG WOODEN DOLL
Gail Wilson, dollmaker and long-time friend from nearby New Hampshire will conduct this workshop to create a small (6") peg wooden doll like those made in Germany which marked the beginning of dolls being exported to other places in the world. Easy steps will involve assembly and minor painting of pre-worked parts. Patterns supplied for clothing. All materials and tools provided. Fee: $85.00

WORKSHOP: MINIATURE NOAH'S ARK TOY
In her second of two planned workshops, Gail will help you to make a charming doll-size Noah's Ark toy. Steps will include simple assembly and base coat painting of wood parts which will then be covered with pre-printed Gail Wilson artwork to evoke the lithographed paper-sided wooden toys of old. All materials and tools will be provided. Fee: $85
