MICKEY MOUSE - THE BAND CONCERT "MICKEY MOUSE - THE BAND CONCERT" is the title of the One-of-a-Kind auction piece from R. John Wright specially created for this year's Doll and Teddy Bear Weekend at Walt Disney World! The Band Concert, a cartoon short released in 1935, represented one of the most important milestones in the history of cinema - the first appearance of Mickey Mouse in color! This landmark masterpiece film is considered by many to be one of the most perfect animated shorts ever made. Audiences eagerly lined up to see their favorite mouse in full color and the film marked the beginning of the Golden Age of Mickey Mouse cartoons. R. JOHN WRIGHT'S Mickey Mouse - The Band Concert is a completely authentic reproduction of Mickey as he appeared in his first color role. Measuring approximately 12" tall and fully jointed for pose ability, Mickey is constructed of the finest all-wool felt. He has molded and hand painted features and a leather nose and tail. Over his trademark red shorts and yellow shoes, Mickey wears a fully-lined all-felt band leader costume with long tails and epaulettes on the shoulders. On his head is the uniform's visored cap with mohair plume and he holds a carved wooden baton in one hand. Band leader Mickey stands atop a handmade crate of weathered, painted wood. His custom-made music stand is handcraftcrafted of wood and includes sheet music as shown in the film and a hand-watercolored sign annnouncing the Band's afternoon performance of the William Tell Overture. Mickey Mouse - The Band Concert comes enclosed inside a deluxe presentation box and includes a bound certificate of authenticity hand signed by R. John Wright and Susan Wright. This One-of-a-Kind creation was shown for the first and only time at the Doll and Teddy Bear Weekend at Walt Disney World.
