| CHARLES |
by Isaac Watts (1674-1748)
Let dogs delight to bark and bite,
For God hath made them so;
Let bears and lions growl and fight,
For 'tis their nature too.
But, children, you should never let
Such angry passions rise;
Your little hands were never made
To tear each other's eyes.
Charles measures 8.5 inches tall and is constructed of the finest all-wool felt. He is fully jointed at the shoulders, hips and neck, featuring the new RJW ball and socket jointing system. Charles has a sculptural hollow body with an internal wood mechanism to connect his limbs and head. He has hand-painted features, molded hands sewn with individual fingers and a wig made of the finest imported mohair.
Charles is faithful to the original illustration by famed American illustrator Jessie Willcox Smith based on the classic childhood poem. He wears a charming 2-piece suit made of custom dyed cotton twill lined in pure silk fabric with applied felt trim. A white batiste Buster Brown blouse with a red silk tie, cotton stockings and hand-cobbled leather shoes complete his charming period ensemble. As the perfect accessory, this lovely little boy comes complete with the dog shown in the illustration - made entirely out of fine mohair with glass inset eyes and airbrushed coloration. This marks the first-ever dog creation by R. John Wright.
Charles and the dog will come enclosed in a deluxe RJW presentation box with the accompanying signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration.
