The Camel with the Wrinkled Knees For 2006, we are pleased to present the first matching piece in the R. John Wright Raggedy Ann Collection: The Camel with the Wrinkled Knees. This whimsical character appeared in only one of Johnny Gruelle's wildly successful Raggedy Ann books, Raggedy Ann and Andy and the Camel with the Wrinkled Knees, published in 1924, yet is one of the best-known characters in the series.
Faithfully based on the original Gruelle images, The Camel with the Wrinkled Knees stands approximately 14" tall and is designed especially to accompany the Premiere Raggedy Ann & Andy. Fully constructed of the finest custom-dyed all-wool felt with soft airbrushed coloration, the Camel is jointed at the neck for increased expressiveness. He has a unique character face with hand painted features and leather covered shoe-button eyes. The Camel is completely, authentic from his double humps to his wrinkled knees and handstiched details. Just as in the illustrations, he wears a bridle made of leather with covered white felt buttons. The Camel with the Wrinkled Knees from R. John Wright is destined to be the definitive version of this delightful storybook character. The Camel with the Wrinkled Knees will be made in a limited edition of just 350 pieces worldwide and will come in an RJW felt drawstring bag with an accompanying signed, numbered certificate of authenticity. Don't miss out on this unusual and lovable piece. Subject to availability, matching edition numbers will be offered to Premier pieces in the Raggedy Ann Collection numbered below 250. Please contact your authorized RJW Retailer for further details.
