In 1992 we introduced The Nursery Rhyme Series, a collection of dolls based primarily on the captivating artwork in The Jessie Willcox Smith illustrated Mother Goose first published in 1914. The series consisted of dolls from six classic Nursery Rhymes: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary; Little Boy Blue; Jack & Jill; Little Miss Muffet; Little Bo-Peep; and Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son - the final doll in the series.

Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son, shown in the photo above, is fully jointed and constructed of all-wool felt. His face is molded using the Little Children face mold and delicately painted by hand with striated iris's. His auburn wig is made of the finest mohair and his hands feature individually sewn fingers. Tom wears a detailed Scottish outfit consisting of a felt kilt of sewn and pieced felt, a tailored jacket with pockets and felt-covered buttons, and a jaunty highlander cap. An authentic leather 'sporan' hangs from a belt around his waist. This is crafted of heavy leather with embossed detailing, tassles, and a cast brass 'RJW' button closure. Custom-knit striped socks and hand-cobbled leather shoes with solid brass buckles complete his delightful period costume. In his arms, Tom holds an adorable baby piglet made with sculptural detail out of mohair plush and felt with an open mouth, jointed neck, realistic coloration, and glass eyes.

Produced in an extremely low edition of just 100 pieces, Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son came enclosed in its own deluxe presentation box with a descriptive booklet, a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, and the forms for owner registration.
